Soul Vacation

I went quiet for a while but back again briefly with an update. Since we moved into the Majorda Beach Resort we have been very lazy, reading by the pool, drinking by the pool, reading in our room, watching tv in our room, eating, drinking and relaxing.

Claire mentioned Phil and Bev that I sat next to on the plane on the way over here because we caught up with them for happy hour at our hotel Wednesday night. She also mentioned Dennis and Michael that we met in the Pentagon on Thursday night. Well on Friday they had an Indian night organized in our hotel so we set off down for happy hour at about 5pm in the sea food restaurant so we could watch the sunset at just after 6pm. They have a great happy hour here, it starts at 5pm until 7.30pm then starts again at 10pm until 11.30pm and its 2 for 1 on cocktails.

Having polished off about 5 cocktails each and watched the sun setting we headed off to the aircon bar for, yes you guessed it, yet more cocktails. Lucky we did as no sooner had our drinks arrived that Phil and Bev arrived too. Just as they had got their drinks and I was taking this picture, Michael and Dennis turned up too for a party. I think the boys had had 2 bottles of wine at lunchtime and carried on with rums in the afternoon. We like the boys! Apologies to everyone else in the bar as we were a bit loud and laughing all the time, we seemed to take over a bit. Dennis and Michael live in Washington DC and Michael negotiated 3 month holiday a year from his events organizing while Dennis is self employed as a copper sculptor artist. They have almost as many holidays as us!

Phil and Bev wanted to try the lobster at our seafood restaurant but the boys had had enough and set off for their car that had been waiting outside. We had a great meal and ended up having 3 more bottles of wine with our meal. We had already had 2 bottles at the bar along with several cocktails. I feel a bit slow this morning. Anyway, just as we finished a group of dancers turned up to practice their routine ready for Christmas; laugh, Claire had to leave as it was so embarrassing. I haven’t seen her with such out of control laughter for a while. Once finished we had a photo with the staff and shot back to the bar for the beginning of second happy hour where Phil and I played snooker and the girls disappeared for a while. A very appropriate party night for our last night at the Majorda.

I told you before that I had kept one night, Saturday night free for a surprise. Well here we are at Soul Vacations by Shalam (www.soulvacation.in). Most of the walls inside and out are white with treatment rooms, library, large tv and dvd player. A lovely balcony overlooking the pool and right in the heart of Colva. Shame we only have one night. We popped in here for the tariff once before and ate here several times. They won the Times Lebanese restaurant of the year in 2006. It was 11000 rupees when we looked before but we managed to negotiate a luxury room for 5000 rupees this time as not many tourists are around. More tomorrow about our Soul Vacation.
