Homes under the Hammer

This week has been manic. Twenty two windows and 2 doors for the OB flats plus 2 windows and a door for the little GP flat not to mention 22 windows boards to fit and 2 vans full of glass stuff. Yesterday we were on site for 6.30am and didn't get until until home until gone 5 in the evening. We were absolutely shattered. We've spent all of this week with the gang from Ampthill Glass, Champ, Mark and Rob. Good old Ian has sent us his best guys and they have done an amazing job. It has taken them a little longer than Ian had estimated but I think that's because we have had windows boards everywhere as well as all of the glazed windows. I had never even heard of window boards before but they are are incredible, £500 quid for the whole house and they just add the extra finish. Well worth remembering if you have an old house or window sills that can't be brought back by a good sanding and a coat of gloss.

According to our project plan the boys should have been finished in number 10 by the end of play on Wednesday but things took a little longer and they still haven't finished. Only the bathroom to do this morning and we reckon they should be out by 9.30ish. After finishing at number 10 they will start work at Harriet's flat which if they have 4 guys, they should should finish by the end of today. We have the agent coming round at 10.30 today to give us a rental valuation. If we agree a price and a fee then we will hand over the keys and Adam can get it advertised while we are on holiday. The boys from Ampthill have also put in 2 windows at the little GP flat and a new door. Phil also went with Champ to the TMA flat and he fixed the bathroom window lock in less than 2 minutes.

Yesterday Shaun and Lill turned up to do fencing. There was a lot of digging down to do but by the end of play yesterday, they'd put up 3 fence panels, removed Derek's gate and re-erected this by Derek's parking bay. My job yesterday, amongst 10 million other jobs, was to paint the fence panels front and back and also get a coat on Derek's gate. I also managed to get 3 of the panels done at the NH house, so I had a good painting day yesterday with lots of self satisfaction. I wanted to get Will Tricks in to lay a membrane and shingle the front and back at the NH house but this is going have to wait until we get back from Turkey. Actually I may read up about how to do this on the internet and do it myself.

We gave got lots to do before the agent turns up. Phil needs to to finish the grouting, I need to paint the last bits in the bathroom and we need to clear all of the cupboards out, make good the stainless steel boards, take the rubbish to the tip, sweep and mop the stairs and generally clear the whole site up. We have just over 3 and a half hours before valuation so I must end this blog right away and get going. More tomorrow, the last blog before we fly away and I can't wait!

Sounds like just a normal day for Krause & Krause Ltd.
Have a great holiday and, if you think about it, try relaxing for a while.
