Leela Palace

Up at the crack of dawn after a wonderful night in the Leela; I’m not sure what they make the bed sheets out of but they are so soft. The bed is massive and doesn’t move when one of you turns over.

Upon leaving our room for breakfast we spotted a couple of ravens after something right outside our door (101); upon closer inspection it was a little bird that must have fallen out of it’s nest. One of the cleaners caught it and put in amongst some bushes for shelter so I hope it made it. It could only fly about 4 yards at a time.

Breakfast was as you would expect for a place of this quality and we ate ours near a pool. We both started with fresh fruit and yoghurt then Claire went for eggs and smoked salmon while I sampled the Indian breakfast. I forgot to mention in the last one that we managed to get lunch at Jocons outside the Taj Exotica. They always remember us there as well even though we only normally have one meal there per trip.

After breakfast we had a walk around the grounds where most of the photos are from. They have a botanical garden where they grow replacement plants for the grounds and also their own flowers and orchids. There are tennis courts and a small golf course where there seem to be more Egrets than people; not sure if you get extra points for avoiding them.

I complete this short blog with two from our balcony and one of the tv, dvd and music centre; what a place but somehow I still prefer a smaller place where I feel more at home and relaxed. I do love the room though; that’s why I’m here now rather than around the pool with Claire.

Wednesday was Chris and Linda's last day and they had enjoyed Betty's boat trip so much they decided to do it again with some friends that they had met at a beach shack. This would get them off to a head start when we meet them for our meal at Betty's in the evening.

Claire put her best dress on and off we set about an hour early so we could have pre dinner drinks at the Fisherman's Wharf where we had lunch. They had prommised to put one of our favourite bottles of Sula on ice for us.

We all tried mainly some of the local Goan specialities and shared but of course PK had over ordered as usual.

Today is Thursday and the Indian elections start today so the tv channels are all dominated by it.

Vote Mayawati!

I like the look of this hotel Phil, this looks more like the type of place an affluent couple like you two should be staying.
